Samuel S. Frankel, Jr., Esq. has been practicing law since 1998.  He has significant litigation experience handling civil matters and serving as lead counsel in numerous trials, evidentiary hearings, mediation and arbitration conferences. Prior to joining Barnett, Lerner, Karsen, Frankel & Castro, P.A., Mr. Frankel’s practice focused on defending self-insured companies and insurance carriers in their liability and workers’ compensation matters. During this time he had the opportunity to work together with corporate risk managers and insurance adjusters nationwide in all aspects of the claims process, conducted training sessions and seminars, and contributed to industry publications.  Since joining Barnett, Lerner, Karsen, Frankel & Castro, P.A. in 2010, Mr. Frankel has leveraged this knowledge and experience to focus solely on advocating for injured workers under the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, the Defense Base Act, the Non-appropriated Fund Instrumentalities Act, the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act, the other extensions of the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, as well as other State of Florida and Federal laws.  He now represents injured workers from the United States and across the world, including Canada, Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, India, Nepal, North Macedonia, Syria, The Dominican Republic, Kosovo, Peru, Turkey, South Africa, The Philippines, United Arab Emirates, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, South Korea, Kwajalein Atoll, The Bahamas, The Marshall Islands, Bosnia & Herzegovina, United States Antarctic research stations, and many others.

Mr. Frankel has appeared before courts throughout the State of Florida, the District Court for the Southern District of Florida, the District Court for the Southern District of New York, the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Administrative Law Judges, and the U.S. Department of Labor’s Benefits Review Board.  Mr. Frankel is also a member of the District Court for the Middle District of Florida, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Tax Court, the U.S. Court of International Trade, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces.  Mr. Frankel belongs to various professional associations, including the Florida Bar, the Washington, D.C. Bar, the Broward County Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, and the Department of Labor Joint Bar Association.

Mr. Frankel attended St. Thomas University School of Law in Miami, Florida, where he earned a Juris Doctor, and Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, California, earning a Master of Laws in International Taxation. He also has certifications in International Financial Centers Planning and Anti-Money Laundering and Compliance and is a Certified Master Financial Planner.  Mr. Frankel retired from the U.S. military reserves in 2019 with over 20 years of honorable service.
